The 2014 Warrior Ride Tour de Carolina will begin on October 17th, day three of their four day ride in Shallotte with a ceremony featuring the Shallotte Middle School band. The ride and kick off ceremony will start at 9am in Riverside Park in Shallotte. Cyclists will leave Riverside Park and travel along N.C. 179 through Ocean Isle Beach, Sunset Beach and into Calabash.
They will cycle through Shallotte Middle School at 9:30am and visit students at Shallotte Middle School before travelling along N.C. 179 through Shallotte and Ocean Isle Beach to the Sunset Beach Bridge. Cyclists will ride over the bridge and make a brief stop at the Sunset Beach gazebo area for refreshments before riding back over the bridge and onto Calabash ending at Brunswick Plantation.
Everyone is encouraged to take a moment and step outside to cheer these brave men and women on as The Warrior Ride passes through the area.
The Warrior Ride is a non-profit 501(c)3 with the mission to recreate and rehabilitate combat injured service members by implementing multi-day adaptive bicycling events. The Warrior Ride was founded by Bob and Debra Racine of Oak Island. The 2014 ride is dedicated in memory of Debra Racine.
