Ingram Planetarium celebrates International Observe the Moon Night at 7:00 PM on September 22, 2012. International Observe the Moon Night was conceived by a group of scientists, educators, and enthusiasts whose mission is to “instill in the public a sense of wonderment and curiosity about our Moon.”
The Planetarium will feature a special star show in its state-of-the-art Sky Theater that highlights the Moon as well as other celestial objects. The program will include a video that honors Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the Moon. Armstrong died on August 25 at the age of 82.
Weather permitting, you will be able to step outside and observe the Moon through the Planetarium’s telescopes. Amateur astronomer Tavi Greiner will be on hand to answer your questions about the Moon and astrophotography. Greiner is co-founder and communications director of Astronomy.FM, an astronomy and science internet radio station.
Ingram Planetarium is located at 7625 High Market Street in Sunset Beach, NC. This event is free for Planetarium members. Non-member admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, $4 for children ages 3-4, and free for ages 2 and under. For more information, call 910-575-0033 or visit www.MuseumPlanetarium.org.
