Things are really happening at the Town of Holden Beach! Construction has commenced on a long-awaited storm damage repair project, with the dredge R.N. Weeks delivering its first load of sand onto the beach around 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. The second dredge, the B.E. Lindholm, started dredging on the second borrow area in the early morning hours Sunday morning.

Mayor J. Alan Holden, Town Manager David W. Hewett and Mayor Pro Tem Rick Smith were onsite Friday to kickoff the project.

Both dredges are currently pumping sand to transfer stations on the east end, located between 240 Ocean Boulevard East and just east of the Quinton Street Public Access.
The project will go from approximately 240 Ocean Boulevard East to 781 Ocean Boulevard West and place over 1,000,000 cubic yards of sand on the beach.
It addresses storm damage since the previous town sponsored project in 2017 and is expected to last approximately 60 days. There are also two trawlers working the borrow areas.
Beachgoers are reminded to stay out of orange-fenced areas and be mindful of heavy equipment.
We look forward to providing even more beach for your blankets and additional wildlife habitat at the conclusion of the project!
