We all know the beach can inspire people to be creative, and recently Ocean Isle Beach inspired a song and music video–which was also shot at Ocean Isle Beach. “Broke but Tan” by musical artist Whitney Layne, a catchy country ballad about living the simple beach life, will be playing in our heads all summer long! The video features Whitney traveling all over the Ocean Isle Beach area dancing in her flip flops and bikini, passing out fliers for a beach party.
Whitney wrote the song after visiting friends who recently moved to Ocean Isle, they said about the song’s inception, “We recently built our dream home on a little piece of paradise in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. After the stress and exhaustion of building we decided on a house name of ‘Broke But Tan'”. During a 4th of July visit in 2014, singer/songwriter friends, Whitney Layne, Molly Stevens, and Minnie Murphy from Nashville, TN decided to write a fun song titled Broke But Tan. The song and concept quickly went viral so they decided to market some fun merchandise to help spread the word and their song. Whitney Layne has recorded the song in Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Studio in Nashville, TN and it is now available on iTunes.
