A new attraction will be opening in Spring 2015 for Ocean Isle Beach. The Ocean Isle Beach Outpost Swamp Park will be a nature-focused attraction with Nature Tours, Kayak Adventures, and a Zip-Lining course that features the local ecosystem. Below is a description of the park featured on their website.
The Shallotte River Swamp Park is a series of outposts located along the Shallotte River starting at Ocean Isle Beach Road, traversing a 6-mile route of pristine river environment populated with native wildlife. This remarkable ecological tour takes you through a freshwater ecosystem, a heavily canopied swamp environment of cypress trees, populated with swamp characteristics eventually converting to a brackish fresh saltwater environment, concluding at the Atlantic Ocean. On a trip along this diverse ecosystem, you may encounter anything from alligators and turtles to dolphins, sharks, and otters.
The Ocean Isle Beach Outpost is scheduled to have a variety of entertainment venues such as: Guided Boat and Kayak & Canoe Tours of varying lengths, Tree Top Tours high above the Shallotte River in the cypress forest overlooking the river, looking down on local wildlife, a Canopy Obstacle Course which will be an integral part of the Tree Top Tours, and a guided Nature Walk along the 1 mile riverfront of the OIB Outpost.
