The storm has moved further west. Some impacts are expected across southeast NC Thursday and Friday as Nicole moves across the western Carolinas during Friday. Impacts include some heavy rainfall, gusty winds, possible isolated tornadoes and coastal flooding.
There is a potential for 1 to 2? of rainfall for our area. No widespread flooding is expected but this amount of rainfall could cause some localized flooding in poor drainage areas.
TS force winds directly associated with Nicole have become less likely for this portion of the Carolinas given the track further west. The wind peak has been lowered to possible sustained winds of 25-30 with gust of 35 mph.
Gale warning is in effect for the coastal waters. Seas across the waters will be 8 to 12 feet through Friday. Otherwise rough surf and strong rip currents are expected. Some beach erosion possible around each high tide through Friday.
