Update from EMD/Mayor Holden from August 5th, 2020
Holden Beach is making progress in recovering from Hurricane Isaias. The town estimates the damage at Holden Beach is now in excess of $40 million.
Holden Beach’s infrastructure remained intact, including the sewer and water system. Electricity has been restored island-wide. Most of the storm debris on the streets has been removed and most of the sand on the roads has been removed.
The State of North Carolina has issued warnings concerning water quality along the waterfront areas which includes oceanfront, canals, and the waterway. Click here to view the full swim advisory.
Repair assessments on the island have begun. The town mandates that no rentals are allowed until further notice. The island is currently only open to people with valid 2020 decals properly, permanently displayed on the windshield.
For residents, trash and recycling will be picked up on Saturday.
